KrP won in the shootout

Happee visited Nokia KrP on Thursday. Both teams scored nine goals on regular time. Happee was first to reach nine but Nokia KrP managed to come from behind in the third period and grab the win in the shootout.

Happee started the game perkier than the opponent. The moose moved the ball with good pace in the opening period and forced the home team into defense mode. Despite the visitors’ clear dominance and three scored goals, the home team lead 4-3 after the opening period. Happee had several chances more but KrP was more efficient.

The second period offered some great goal scoring from both teams. The home team managed to increase their lead to 5-3 but then Happee showed the power of its power play. Happee lead 7-8 after the second period.

Jami Manninen scored early in the third period and everything seemed ok for the away team. The home team had a different opinion and scored two fast goals forcing the match to over time.

On over time the game slowed down somewhat and both teams seemed cautious, trying to avoid counter attacks. Both teams had their chances but no success, so the match was decided with penalty shots. The home team scored two goals and the visitors only one, so Happee gained only one point from the match.

The moose took a lot of penalties and KrP capitalized. KrP scored most of their goals on special teams and only one on five-on-five. Happee couldn’t control the home teams superstar Henri Johansson who scored five goals and assisted one. Jami Manninen scored 3+2 for the away team.

Head coach Mikko Lehto was confused after the game:

- We started the game well and we seemed fresh with the ball. We had a lot of chances and we should have scored even more goals. We had open doors in the defense zone thru the match. Mystical things seem always to take place here in Rahola, concluded Lehto.

The last game of year 2017 is next Saturday at home against EräViikingit.
