Happee is back

Happee celebrated fathers day by visiting SalBa at the west coast. The moose played a solid game for a change and won after loosing three games in a row.

Both teams started the first period carefully. The home team dominated in the beginning but the moose took over as the period grew older. Eemil Ukkonenscored for the visitors, with his first goal of the season. He executed a beautiful shot behind the SalBa-keeper Teemu Kortelainen. Neither team had many scoring chances in the opening period.

Happee took over the game in the second period. Panu Kotilainen, who played vividly thru the game, scored the second goal after a successful turnover. Petri Kauko extended the lead to 0-3 with a power play goal from a brilliant pass from Jami Manninen.Toni Kuosmanen, Otto Tikka and Kauko extended the lead to six goals with a goal each in the end of the second period.

SalBa started the third period with a lot of energy but the tight defense of Happee wore the home team out. Jonne Junkkarinen made it 0-7 on power play before SalBa scored their first of the evening. Niko Kaerlagave some comfort to the home team supporters with two goals while SalBa played with an empty net. Jani Lehtoniemi scored the final 3-7 goal with only ten seconds remaining in the game.

Happee made a solid performance and SalBa stayed a few steps behind thru the game. Happee denied the home team of scoring chances and the moose kept their own net clean five-on-five.

Defender Otto Tikka thought Happee played a decent game.

- The start was a bit sticky after the long break but we caught up pretty well and we decided the game in the second period. We finally met our standards after a few weaker games, concluded Tikka.

Head Coach Mikko Lehto thought that they got what they came for.

- I'm really happy with the two points. That's what we came for and that's what we got. We started a bit slow but we played pretty well for two periods We stayed disciplined today, even if they scored a few playing without the keeper, Lehto finished.

The next game is at home on the 17th at 6.30 pm against Koovee from Tampere.
